Mr. J's Hot Dogs & Gyros

My care taker and I ordered deliver twice now. The first order was screwed up and most our food was missing and had to get a refund. We decided to give them another chance, order messed up again. One of the hot dogs had specifically ordered chili and cheese on it and they put Chicago style ingredients all over the chili, which was not asked for and there is a severe mustard allergy over here. You guys are not reliable. I recommend to anybody with food sensitivities and allergies to not order from this establishment because they don’t follow instructions and anaphylactic shock can kill you. Boo to you Mr. jays. You used to be reliable. You almost killed my care taker today. Let me add that door dash only gave a partial refund as well for $1.44 when it was 3.69. I know, only a few dollars but we literally had to throw it in the trash and I’m far from rich I can’t replace it.

I was driving through town on business and decided to pull over at Mr. J's since I was absolutely starving. Let me tell you, their gyro is the real deal. I could barely finish the whole thing because they really pile on the meat they definitely don't skimp on the portions. The only catch was having to wait a few minutes for a table to open up since the place was pretty packed, but honestly, that’s usually a sign of a good local haunt. The vibe inside is simple and no-frills, but it's kept very clean. It’s a great spot to get a lot of bang for your buck if you’re in Ottawa. Wish I lived a bit closer, because I’d be a regular for those fries alone.

We ordered at 625pm for delivery. We were told 40 mins delivery time. We called at 735pm and they said the driver was almost here. It's now 8pm and nobody is answering the phone. We have tried calling from both my phone and my wife's. Paid with card so we're stuck with the charges. Thanks Mr J's. Real cool. Real professional

It's hit or miss with the food and service here. I typically always get the Gyro plate which is really good. This last time I decide to try something different and got the beef n cheddar and really disappointed. They put more cheese than meat and the cheese was like spicy nacho cheese. This sandwich should have cheddar cheese sauce not nacho cheese. The taste and excessive nacho cheese sauce killed it. I always call in my orders and when I arrive its typically a extra wait to get my food. The last few times I show up later giving them more time to get it ready and still end up having to wait. I do like the variety of food they offer and have had some good and bad experiences here.

This place had me confused when I pulled up. I was like is this a Mexican joint or a hot dog joint? Anyway kinda weird but it works I guess. Alright so the young girls at the counter were really polite and greeted us when we walked in. Place was nice and clean inside and organized. For the food now…it was good but not great and neither terrible. It was slightly awkward like the outside of the business. I got a 2 hotdog special Chicago style. One thing that bothered me was the diced tomatoes on it. Really you couldn’t put slices on it? Then the pickle on them was not good at all. No neon green relish but that’s ok was still good. Needed more onion and mustard on it as well. The hotdog itself was a quality dog. Kids just got hotdogs with ketchup and the same weird pickles on them. All combos came with fries and I was pleasantly surprised at how perfect the fries were fried. We also got an order of breaded mushrooms. Nothing special just your average store bought deep fried mushrooms. They were done perfectly though so worth the money. All in all this was a solid 3.5 and with a few changes would be a solid 4
